Market

There is a market in Saxmundham every Wednesday from early morning until mid afternoon.. The town has Waitrose and Tesco supermarkets in Church Street, as well as a good selection of specialist shops and banks in the High Street.

The market is held in the Market Place just off the High Street adjacent to the Bell Hotel and has 2 hours free car parking at the Market Place car park, every Wednesday morning. The market has a range of stalls including Gerald's fresh eggs, Lillies of Raydon beautiful flowers and plants , Geralds nuts and dried fruit, Jonny's fruit and vegetables, Tony's fresh fish, Kevin's pick and mix, a delicious stall McKarthys selling fabulous bread and pastries, Darren's pet supplies and Russell's clothing. Inside the Market Hall at 29 High Street, there is Annee's marmalades, honey, fudge, flour etc & Lindy's homemade cake stall together with a coffee morning. We need more stallholders both inside the Market Hall and outside in the Market Place. If you would like a stall either indoors or outdoors please contact us, e.g. hot foods, cosmetics, leather goods, jewellery, haberdashery, and music etc.  We also need musicians for our weekly market.

The market is now 'owned' by the Town Council. It was owned by the Long family, then it passed to Mrs Aldous a descendant of the family and when she became elderly she transferred it to the District Council. Saxmundham Town Council have recently taken over the ownership.

If you wish to have a stall please contact the Town Clerk on 01728 604595 or by email townclerk@saxmundham.suffolk.gov.uk
