Saxmundham has a very active Sports & Recreational club and has over 30 other clubs & societies covering a wide range of interests including local and family history, horticulture, yoga, dancing, bingo, plus several youth and community groups. Leisure facilities are available in neighbouring Leiston.

There are several groups catering for young people, plus there is a campaign to get a skate park up and running in the town.

The town also enjoys a range of playgrounds and has its own memorial field or public park.
