Parks & Playgrounds
There is a small playground
for younger children off Chantry Road, a play area for older children
in Seaman Avenue, and a larger adventure playground on the Carlton
Park grounds. The town also has a public recreation ground on the
Memorial Field on Rendham Road.
Road Play Area
There is small play area in Chantry Road near the centre of town
and accessed via New Cut. The boundary fences have been replaced
and new equipment has been installed. The equipment is intended
for younger children under parental supervision.
There is a play area that adjoins the Memorial Field and can be
accessed from Seaman Avenue or the Memorial Field. It is intended
for children and young people. A teen shelter was unveiled
in August 2009, as part of an ongoing project to improve facilities
for young people. Unfortunately this was vandalised but has
recently been repaired. Further rejuvenation will occur in the future.
Unfortunately the old Monterey Cypress tree is diseased and will
be felled this coming week.
Park Adventure Playground
The adventure playground is situated at the west end of the Carlton
Park grounds and is open to the public all year round. It has several
climbing frames, slides and swings as well as picnic tables and
is fenced off from the rest of the park providing a secure area
for children to play.

Memorial Recreation Ground
The Memorial Field is located on Rendham Road and is the largest
public open space in the town. It was established by public subscription
to commemorate those men and women of Saxmundham who gave their
lives in World War I. 40 fruit trees have recently been planted
in memory of the fallen.
