Jeremy Smith

An Essex/Suffolk boy, I’ve known East Suffolk well since the 1950s. I’ve been resident in Sax, at South Entrance, since 2001 and a Town Councillor since 2017. Saxmundham has always been a lovely, historic and practical market town with a strong sense of identity.  But it has grown fast, and will no doubt do so in future.  We need, together, to work harder to make sure the town is ‘fit for purpose’ and meets the needs of all sections of our community – to improve our town centre and local economy, and secure more and better services and amenities. I’ve over 30 years’ experience in local government, so seek to put this to good use in the town I love!

I am Chair of the Market Hall Management Committee, the Gannon Institute Management Committee and the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group and I am a member of the Resources Committee and the Energy Projects Steering Group.
